It’s 2023, you’re raring to go and excited to hit those important targets set for the year ahead. Before you start racing ahead too much though, we’ve compiled a list of things you should check in your Paid Search account to make sure it’s in a good place from the off!

Here’s our top 5 things to check in the New Year:

Check your dates

We’re now in 2023, so check for references to 2022 in your ad copy, creative and assets! If you have founded X years ago, now is also a great time to check whether that needs to be updated too.

Don’t just check your ads though, check for references across your site and key landing pages too!

Check promotions

Have your Christmas promotions ended? Make sure ads containing promotional messaging are now paused, and that includes any promotion assets across Google Ads and Merchant Centre too!

Check budgets and bidding strategies

Christmas can be a time of fluctuation in accounts, whether you’re an ecom brand running a promotion and traffic increases, or lead gen and it goes quiet while everyone enjoys festivities. Checking budgets and bidding strategies is important. Changing any seasonal adjustments that were added to account for CVR increases.

Check your rules

Did you set up rules to run over the festive period? Check they ran ok. They’re often used to pause and enable ads so it’s important to make sure the ads you expect to be live are exactly that.

Check your Merchant Centre

Give your Merchant Centre a once over, check for any product disapprovals, or warnings in the account. Make sure your product feed is in the best place to hit the ground running.
